Paying for Our Own Financial Ruin?

Hilarious.. The Bush Administration is now setting up a "war room" and going on a taxpayer-funded marketing campaign to convince America that Bush's Social Security reform is the correct way to resolve the "crisis". I find it distressing that we, the American taxpayers, are paying to convince ourselves of a policy that fully 2/3 of America rejects and the majority have no confidence in.

It is quite clear that Bush and his NeoConservative supporters are trying to dismantle the Social Security program by tying it to the volatile nature of the Stock Market (the very thing Social Security was designed to hedge against as part of Roosevelt's "New Deal" program). Bush is no stranger to crying "crisis!" regarding Social Security. In fact, he tried this same approach back in 1978 during a failed bid for a Congressional seat. During that campaign, Bush declared that Social Security would be bankrupt by 1988 if privatization reforms were not immediately enacted. We all know how accurate he was then.

In fact, it seems that BushCo has resorted to old friends to pull a "swift vet" on the AARP.

I personally find it outrageous that we are being forced to pay for a disingenuous campaign of vicious smear and deliberate half-truths. Please urge your Congressperson to save Social Security from the predations of the Bush Administration. While you're at it, you might want to drop him or her a note regarding your outrage concerning the illegal propaganda for which the Bush Administration has already forced the American taxpayers to remunerate.
